CLUB PROFILE

The Royal British Club Lisbon, Portugal: was founded in 1888 and obtained its royal patronage in 1903 after a state visit to Portugal by King Edward VII. It is an important social institution in Lisbon area for the British and international communities. His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, is patron of the Club and His/Her Excellency The British Ambassador to Portugal is the current President.
The RBC is a private members' club, with an international membership, serving the social needs of its members within Portugal and abroad. The Club has not had any premises for many years but events have been held at hotels and restaurants, including some very successful Charity Summer Balls and Gala Dinners in past years. Informal lunches and other events are held throughout the year which provide members the opportunity to meet old faces and make new friends.
The membership includes nationals from Portugal, the United Kingdom and a large number of other countries, mainly resident in the Lisbon/Estoril/Cascais/Sintra areas. All pay an annual subscription.
The Club has a Golfing Society which holds monthly competitions, followed by lunch, which is often sponsored in part by Club members or associated companies.
The Club is managed by an elected Executive Committee, the majority of whom, under the Club's Rules, must be of British nationality. The day-to-day running of the Club is done by a Club Secretary. For further information please contact the Club Secretary on:
