Street Party Celebrating the Diamond Jubilee, June 16 2012
More than 100 people from the British and international community gathered at the Quinta da Fonte, British Retirement Home in São Pedro do Estoril on Saturday 16th June to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The Street Party luncheon was jointly organized by the British Retirement Home, the Women's Royal Voluntary Service, the Royal Society of St George and the Royal British Club.
Gala Dinner 2012
The Royal British Club commemorated Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee with a Gala Dinner on 31st May at the Hotel Estoril Palacio. The guest speaker was Her Majesty's Ambassador to Portugal Mrs Jill Gallard.
Among the nearly 150 guests was Dom Miguel de Brangança - Duke of Viseu, Simona Demuro British Consul in Portugal, and guests from various associations in the community: Royal British Legion, Women's Royal Voluntary Service, as well as Portuguese Clubs: The Turf Club, Real Clube Tauromaquica Português, Associação da Nobreza Historica de Portugal and Grémio Literário amongst others.
Chairman Philip Portal gave a speech and introduced HMA Jill Gallard who gave the Loyal Toast. Pernod-Ricard sponsored the wines at the event and donated the Royal Salute whisky, which was specifically produced for Her Majesty's Jubilee, and the Sandeman port.
The Yara Gutkin Ensemble provided great music which kept members and guests dancing away until past midnight.
